Robert Taylor - Director

Robert is Barclay Taylor's Practice Principal Director. He was called to the Bar in 2001, cross qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and has spent 9 years practising employment law and media law.

Prior to qualifying as a lawyer, Robert was a professional scriptwriter, writing numerous episodes of ChuckleVision and the sitcom Out of Tune. Robert also worked in partnership with Rory Clark on Farcical Films creating comedy shows and projects throughout the 90s.

Robert maintains a strong interest in creative rights and is currently Chair of the Writers' Guild of Great Britain and a member of the Board of the Federation of Screenwriters in Europe. Robert is one of the Guilds main negotiators and since becoming Chair has embarked on a comprehensive and ambitious re-structure of the organisation.

Robert is a member of the Notting Hill Chapter of BNI and was Chapter Director between April and October 2010.

Robert brings a genuinely creative mind to legal problems and enjoys getting stuck in to contentious disputes or difficult negotiations.

Nicki Barclay - Consultant

Nicki has been practising employment and company/commercial law since 2001.  Her previous careers included public and voluntary sector work, as well as private sector work in PR and media –  where her experiences ranged from junior to managerial duties – providing an excellent background for employment and commercial law.  In addition Nicki established and successfully ran businesses both in the UK and abroad – including rising to the bureaucratic and logistical challenges of relocating one business from Belize to Jamaica.

Nicki set up the firm in early 2006 and resigned in December 2009, handing over to Robert, to try to pursue her pro bono commitments in various fields.  She is still a part-time Consultant and provides occasional advice to a few Barclay Taylor clients.
